Every Step Matters

Not long ago, a new guest arrived at PCM hoping for a fresh start. Like many who come through our doors, he was eager to work and rebuild his life. Before long, he found an opportunity at a local factory that was willing to give him a chance. There was just one problem. To begin work, he needed steel-toed boots. Without them, he couldn't start the job.

For someone starting over with nothing, even something as simple as a pair of work boots can be out of reach. And in his case, finding the right size made it even harder. He needed size 14. But that year, during our Day Without Shoes collection, someone had donated a pair of steel-toed boots in exactly that size. Because someone chose to give, we were able to place those boots in his hands at just the right moment. He started the job. He worked hard. And before long, he was able to move out of the shelter and into his own place.

It may have looked like just a pair of boots, but it represented a step toward stability, dignity, and a new beginning. That's why each year's Day Without Shoes matters so much. Every pair of shoes donated becomes an opportunity to help someone take their next step.

Would you consider participating this year? You can make a financial contribution or donate shoes. Your support helps ensure that when someone in need is ready to step forward, we can help them take that step.

Your kindness truly changes lives.

Blessings,

Pastor Tom
