PCM's Dental Clinic Helps People In Need - And It's Absolutely Free

There is power in being able to smile, eat without pain, and feel comfortable around other people. But for many people experiencing homelessness, dental care is simply out of reach. Even for those with Medicaid, finding a dentist who accepts their coverage can be difficult, and needed procedures may still be more than they can afford.

So, what are their options?

Too often, people live with dental pain until it becomes an emergency. Some end up in hospital emergency rooms, where they may receive medication for the pain but not the treatment needed to fix the problem. Without access to regular dental care, the same problems often return. But, we have a solution. Did you know that People’s City Mission operates a free dental clinic? There is never a charge for the services we provide. Farrah, a local dentist, has volunteered her services regularly at our clinic since 2019 because she wants those with the fewest options to receive quality care.

Many of the dental supplies used in our clinic are donated, helping us stretch every dollar further. When a patient needs specialized treatment that we cannot provide onsite, we are often able to refer them to other dentists in the community who are willing to provide those services for free.

And dental care is only part of what happens at the PCM Free Clinic. We also have regular visits from a podiatrist and chiropractor, along with other medical services throughout the year. Altogether, free medical services of one kind or another are provided to approximately 3,500 people each year.
